Dying Stereo

Dying Stereo

Sometimes…

I wish my portable stereo

Would lull me into a false sense of security

Instead, the long beeping noise

Alerts my ears to the chilling reality

Of a charged battery dying all too soon

Please don’t die on me! I scream

Don’t you remember

When I charged you this afternoon?

There will never be enough life in you

To sustain me

I crave the drum’s baseline blues

Pump out noises about the woes and truimphs

I have gone through

So my spirit is cleansed

With the droplets

Of a long awaited morning dew

I rely on you

I depend on you

To take me away

From the boulevard of broken dreams

Where gold is piled sky high

And cash is king

Send me gliding

Over your colliding notes

Rinse my hair with the plucks

Of Jimi Hendrix’s guitar

Tonight…

I watch the tower with you

The feedback and static

Resulting from your fading melody

Wakes my restless soul

From merrymaking jubilee

There will never be enough life in you

To sustain me

I crave the drum’s baseline blues

Pump out noises about the woes and truimphs

I have gone through

So my spirit is cleansed

Love always, Esha ❤
