Borrowed Sugar

The sun shines overhead

It looks like a raging ball of fire in a ocean of blue

Dragonflies float in the swirling wind

But the appeals of nature grew still

When a neighbor knocked on the sturdy wooden door

A tap, tap, tap is heard

Followed by words from the bowels of a restless mourner:

Please let me borrow a cup of sugar

I promise to give it back

Just long enough to sweeten my black tea

I need a warm cup with a slice of lemon to bring relief

My spirit is strong and eager

But my feet are weak

I need an empowered soul to keep on going

A sweet reminder to believe

And when hurt comes…

Retrieve the sugar you loaned to me

Love always, Esha ❤
